Privacy Policy

Draft for review. Last updated October 2026.

Before launch, the data controller's name and contact email below must be filled in, and this policy reviewed by a qualified adviser.

Who we are

WasteWork is a job board and company directory for the UK waste and recycling industry. The data controller is [OPERATOR NAME TO BE ADDED]. Contact: [CONTACT EMAIL TO BE ADDED].

What we collect

Account details (name, email, password, which type of account you chose); optional profile details (headline, town, phone, whether you are open to work); a saved CV if you upload one; and, when you apply for a job, your name, email, phone number, cover note and CV. Employers give us company and job details.

Why we use it

To run your account, let you apply for jobs, and let employers review applications. Our legal basis is performing the service you ask for, and your consent when you choose to send your details to an employer. We do not sell your data and we do not use your CV for advertising.

Who sees your CV

A CV or application is visible only to you and to the employer who posted the job you applied to. A CV saved on your profile is not visible to anyone until you attach it to an application. CV files are not public and are not indexed by search engines.

How long we keep it

Applications, including attached CVs, are deleted automatically 12 months after you apply. You can withdraw an application, which deletes it, or delete your whole account at any time from My account. Deleting your account removes your profile, saved CV and applications.

Employers

Employers who receive applications become responsible for that personal data. They must use it only to assess applications, keep it secure and not share it.

Business listings

Company profiles may show public information from Companies House and the Environment Agency waste carrier register. Sole traders and small firms are listed only if they submit their own details or claim a profile, and the contact details they choose to publish appear on that profile. Anyone can ask for a listing to be corrected or removed using the form on the profile.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask to see, correct or delete your data, object to how it is used, and complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk). We are registered with the ICO, registration number ZC278371. Most of this you can do yourself in My account. Otherwise contact us using the details above.

Cookies

We use a single essential cookie to keep you signed in. We do not use advertising or analytics cookies at present.
